Saving for a child

Published 4 November 2021 · updated 3 October 2026 · Written or reviewed by Christophe Bouin

A child with no income subject to OASI does not open a pillar 3a. The parent who does have OASI income can use their own 3a, inside their own ceiling. Money set aside in the child’s name is generally flexible pillar 3b, with the contract’s access and beneficiary rules.

The wider frame is the Swiss third pillar.

Can I deduct a 3a in my child’s name?+

Not if the child has no income subject to OASI. The deduction follows the person who has that income.
