How to choose a third pillar

Published 1 June 2023 · updated 3 October 2026 · Written or reviewed by Christophe Bouin

Choosing a third pillar is not the best rate of the moment. It is lining up the 2026 tax ceiling, a time horizon, a need for protection, and a support you will actually keep. Pillar 3a and pillar 3b do not replace each other. Neither do bank and insurance.

Five questions before the product

  1. What gap is there between OASI/BVG pensions and the retirement budget?
  2. Can you aim at the pillar 3a ceiling without emptying your cash reserve?
  3. Do you need a death capital or a waiver of premium, or only savings?
  4. Is the horizon under about eight years, or until reference age?
  5. Canton and status change the tax result.

The wider frame is the Swiss third pillar.

The request form stays in French. It asks for a first name, last name, email, phone and canton. It is free and does not commit you. Open the French form.
